【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethodcoversthemeasurementoftheyieldstressandviscosityofengineoilsaftercoolingatcontrolledratesoveraperiodexceeding45htoafinaltesttemperaturebetween-10and-40176;C.Theviscositymeasurementsaremadeatashearstressof525Paoverashearrateof0.4to15s-1.Theviscosityasmeasuredatthisshearstresswasfoundtoproducethebestcorrelationbetweenthetemperatureatwhichtheviscosityreachedacriticalvalueandborderlinepumpingfailuretemperatureinengines.1.2ProcedureAofthistestmethodhasprecisionstatedforayieldrangefromlessthan35Pato210Paandapparentviscosityrangefrom4300to270000mPas.Thetestprocedurecandeterminehigheryieldstressandviscositylevels.1.3Thistestmethodisapplicableforunusedoils,sometimesreferredtoasfreshoils,designedforbothlightdutyandheavydutyengineapplications.Italsohasbeenshowntobesuitableforuseddieselandgasolineengineoils.Theapplicabilitytopetroleumproductsotherthanengineoilshasnotbeendetermined.1.4ThistestmethodusesthemilliPascalsecond(m956;Pas)astheunitofviscosity.Forinformation,theequivalentunit,centiPoise(cP),isshowninparentheses.1.5Thistestmethodcontaintwoprocedures:ProcedureAincorporatesseveralequipmentandproceduralmodificationsfromTestMethodD4684-02thathaveshowntoimprovetheprecisionofthetest,whileProcedureBisunchangedfromTestMethodD4684-02.Additionally,ProcedureAappliestothoseinstrumentsthatutilizethermoelectriccoolingtechnologyandthosethatuseindirectrefrigerationtechnologyofrecentmanufactureforinstrumenttemperaturecontrol.ProcedureBcanusethesameinstrumentsusedinProcedureAorthosecooledbycirculatingmethanol.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
