【摘要】:Thispracticecoversthedeterminationofindentationhardnessofmetallicmaterialsusingcomparisonhardnesstesters.Thispracticeappliesonlytothosecomparisonhardnesstesters,normallyportable,thatusestandardizedtestblocksinaccordancewithTestMethodE10asabasisforcomparison.Calibrationofcomparativetestbars(rods),usedforcomparisontodeterminehardnessnumbers,isalsocoveredbythispractice.Theindentingforceusedduringcomparisonhardnesstestingisnormallyanimpactloadappliedbystrikingahammerattheappropriateareasasoutlinedinthemanufacturer'sinstructions.Finalindentationdiameterinboththecomparativetestbarandmaterialtestedshallbewithintherangeofthecomparatorusedfortheinstrument.Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallthesafetyproblemsassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityofwhoeverusesthisstandardtoconsultandestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
