【摘要】:ThisBritishStandardgivesrecommendationsforthedesignofnewbuildingsandtheirapproachestomeettheneedsofdisabledpeople.Itappliestocarparkingprovision,settingdownpointsandgaraging,accessroutestoandaroundallbuildings,andentrancestoandinteriorsofnewbuildings.Routestorecreationalfacilitiesassociatedwithandintheimmediatevicinityofbuildings,suchaspatios,andseatingandpicnicareas,arealsocovered.TherecommendationsgiveninthisBritishStandardalsoapplyforassessingtheaccessibilityandusabilityofexistingbuildingsand,wherepracticable,asabasisfortheirimprovement.Theextenttowhichtherecommendationsapplytolistedandhistoricbuildingsisdeterminedonacasebycasebasis.ThisBritishStandardappliestothefollowingtypesofbuilding:a)transportandindustrialbuildings,e.g.rail,road,seaandairtravelbuildingsandassociatedconcourses,car-parkingbuildingsandfactories;b)administrativeandcommercialbuildings,e.g.courts,offices,banks,postoffices,shops,departmentstoresandshoppingcentres,andpublicservicebuildings,includingpolicestations;c)healthandwelfarebuildings,e.g.hospitals,healthcentres,surgeriesandresidentialhomes;d)refreshment,entertainmentandrecreationbuildings,e.g.cafes,restaurants,publichouses,concerthalls,theatres,cinemas,conferencebuildings,communitybuildings,swimmingpoolsandsportsbuildings;e)religiousbuildings;f)educational,culturalandscientificbuildings,e.g.schools,universities,colleges,zoos,museums,artgalleries,librariesandexhibitionbuildings;g)dwellingsandotherresidentialbuildings,e.g.hostels,hotels,residentialclubs,universityandcollegehallsofresidence,nursinghomesandprisons.ThisBritishStandarddoesnotapplytodwellingsorresidentialbuildingsdesignedexclusivelyforusebydisabledpeoplenordoesitmakespecificrecommendationsrelatingtotheuseofbuildingsbychildren.
