【摘要】:ThisInternationalStandardspecifiesasetofcheckcharactersystemscapableofprotectingstringsagainsterrorswhichoccurwhenpeoplecopyortypedata.Thestringsmaybeoffixedorvariablelengthandmayhavecharactersetswhicharea)numeric(10digits:0to9);b)alphabetic(26letters:AtoZ);andc)alphanumeric(lettersanddigits).Embeddedspacesandspecialcharactersareignored.ThisInternationalStandardspecifiesconformancerequirementsforproductsdescribedasgeneratingcheckcharactersorcheckingstringsusingthesystemsgiveninthisInternationalStandard.Thesecheckcharactersystemscandetect:a)allsinglesubstitutionerrors(thesubstitutionofasinglecharacterforanother,forexample"4234"for"1234).;b)allornearlyallsingle(local)transpositionerrors(thetranspositionoftwosinglecharacters,eitheradjacentorwithonecharacterbetweenthem,forexample"12354"or"12543"for"12345.);c)allornearlyallcircularshifterrors(circularshiftsofthewholestringtotheleftorright);d)ahighproportionofdoublesubstitutionerrors(twoseparatesinglesubstitutionerrorsinthesamestring,forexample"1234587"for"1234567)";ande)ahighproportionofallothererrors.ThisInternationalStandardexcludessystemsdesignedspecificallyto:a)permitbotherrordetectionandautomaticcorrection;b)detectdeliberatefalsification;andc)checkstringsinterchangedsolelybetweenmachines.ThisInternationalStandardisforuseininformationinterchangebetweenorganizations.Itisalsostronglyrecommendedforuseininternalinformationsystems.
