【摘要】:Thispracticemaybeusedtoevaluatepertinentperformancecharacteristicsofattachedupholsteryfabrics.Loosecushionsorpillowsconsideredaninherentpartofthetotalupholsteredfurnitureunitaretobeevaluatedusingthispractice.Thispracticeisnotintendedforusewithoutdoorfurniturenorwithslipcoversorthrows.Evaluationistobedonebothbeforeandaftertherefurbishingprocedures,asdirectedinvoluntarycarelabelinginstructionsorasagreeduponbetweenpurchaserandsupplier.Thespecifiedcleaningandmaintenanceprocedureshereindiscusseddonotreflectprofessionalcaredesignedtoenhancetheperformanceoffurniturecoverings,suchastheapplicationofsoilandstainprotectants.Reflectedinthispracticearetheminimumcapabilitiesofcurrentcleaningmethodsusedinaccordancewithanyvoluntarycarelabelinginstructionsaccompanyingthefurniture.Thecharacteristicstobeevaluatedandtheacceptancecriteriaassignedtotheseareasshallbesetbymutualagreementbetweenpurchaserandsupplier.Thesignificanceanduseofspecificpropertiesarediscussedintheappropriatetestmethodsandperformancestandards.1.1Thispracticeistobeusedtoevaluatespecificcharacteristicsofimportanceintheperformanceofupholsteryfabricattachedtoafurnitureunit,includingwoven,knitted,tufted,flocked,orvinylfabrics.1.2Itisunderstoodthatthefabricusedtoconstructtheupholsteredfurnitureunitshouldbeevaluatedinitiallyusingappropriatefabricperformancestandards,suchasSpecificationsD3597andD3690.1.3Loosecushionsorpillowsconsideredaninherentpartofthetotalfurnitureunitaretobeevaluatedusingthispractice.1.4Thispracticeisnottobeusedtoevaluateslipcoversorthrowsusedasfurniturecoverings.Outdoorfurniturecoveringsarenottobeevaluatedusingthispractice.1.5Thispracticeshallnotbeconstruedtobeastandardofperformancebutonlyasastandardpracticeforevaluationofattachedupholsteryfabrics.1.6Thispracticemaybeusedbymutualagreementbetweenpurchaserandsuppliertoestablishpurchasingspecifications.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
